WRITING IS DIFFICULT.

On top of it all, there’s the misconception that writers have to “go it alone.” While writing does, of course, require plenty of solitary time to conceptualize and get the words … down … on … the … page, a trusted and proficient editor can have a profound impact on a writer’s ability to produce, shape, and cultivate their work.

As a writing coach, I help writers at all stages of development—from conception to outlining to composing of initial to last drafts.

Many writers come to me looking for structure, motivation, guidance, and constructive critical feedback. They need an editor not only to point out their blind spots, but also to provide clear, actionable solutions and suggestions for how to fix these issues. They’re struggling to start or complete a project—whether that’s an essay or a short story or a book-length manuscript. They’re frustrated by the process, disheartened by rejections from agents or publishers or graduate programs, and yet their desire to share their work with the world endures.

I DON’T KNOW WHICH MAKES ME MORE MISERABLE: WRITING, OR BEING UNABLE TO WRITE.

I’ve worked with many writers who’ve been traumatized (and I don’t use that word lightly), silenced, or dismissed by teachers who’ve made them feel like they should never pick up a pen again. Many such folk are writers who’ve gone on to publish books with major publishing houses and to study at some of the country’s top MFA programs.

My purpose is to help each writer I work with achieve their unique goal to:

  • Establish a productive writing routine,

  • Feel more confident about their work,

  • Refine their craft,

  • Launch or finish a project,

  • See their words in print.

To do that, I provide comprehensive editorial notes along the margins of their pages and conduct one-on-one meetings to discuss all aspects of the work.

After working with me, I want my clients to feel inspired, capable, and accomplished—to know that they are not alone on their courageous and worthwhile journey to tell the story they want to tell.
